Certbot certificates with Scaleway DNS challenge

If you’re running a homelab behind a NAT or a firewall, exposing port 80/443 for the classic HTTP‑01 challenge is often impossible. That’s exactly the situation I ran into when I started consolidating my services on a private network. The good news? Let’s Encrypt also supports DNS‑01 validation, which lets you prove domain ownership by creating a temporary TXT record. Since my zones live on Scaleway DNS, I tweaked the original geerlingguy/ansible-role-certbot to talk to Scaleway’s API out‑of‑the‑box. The result is the ansible‑role‑certbot‑scaleway role.

Some context: I own a Starlite V, and I use it as a hybrid PC with Gnome and Regolith Desktop. When I work at my desk, I use Regolith, then I turn off the computer and go away from keyboard. Then on the next use, I am on my couch and I boot in tablet mode, then GDM3 by default will send me back to the last session used (Regolith here), and… Bam! I’m stuck in a keyboard-oriented WM without a keyboard.

Hello everyone,

A little time ago, I received my Starlite mk V from Starlabs after a quiet long time.

Here is a technical documentation on how to do the full setup of the Debian 12 and Gnome (wayland) install to have a fully working (in my opinion) hybrid pc.

OS Install

The Debian 12 installation is quite simple and works out of the box, I just used my ventoy key (with a USB C to USB adapter) with the Debian 12 iso on it. I followed the installation process as I would on any machine.

J’ai souvent envie de m’étendre sur certains sujets et n’ai pas vraiment de plateforme pour le faire. J’avais un blog WordPress il y a longtemps, puis plus récemment un write freely (le truc des blogs fédérés). Le souci, c’est que le coût et le temps que prennent ces outils à être maintenus ne vaut pas la quantité (et la qualité, mais je vous laisse juge de ce facteur) de ce que j’ai à dire.
